“One of the greatest guitarists I’ve seen in my whole life. The world needs to listen to his music.”

— George Benson

Brazilian born Diego Figueiredo (pronounced fig-a-ray-doe) is an extraordinary rising star among the world's greatest jazz guitarists. His superb technique, timing and imagination have made him one of the hottest international talents. He has unique skills: first, there is his fingering, as each finger and nail is used as a pick, giving him tremendous speed and varied styles. Secondly, his astounding virtuosity fuses Brazilian, jazz, and classical elements into a style all his own. Finally, there is Diego's endearing passion in his craft and his joy of music so engaging in his performances.
He has performed with world-class artists including legendary guitarist Larry Coryell, renowned sax/clarinet player Ken Peplowski, Janis Siegel (Manhattan Transfer), João Donato, Roberto Menescal, and Gilberto Gil.

Diego recently toured with three other guitarists on the International Guitar Night Tour, which included Grammy Award-winning classical guitarist Andrew York.  Here's what "Guitar World Magazine" said about Diego:

Following Maneli Jamal was a true virtuoso, jazz guitarist Diego Figueiredo. Yes, we were all mesmerized by his amazing head of hair. But it was his incredibly fluid and natural performance style, his sense of true enjoyment as he dazzled us and his good-natured entertaining approach that truly grabbed us. Wow. I don’t even know what else to say. Seemingly effortless and thoroughly fabulous.”

— Guitar World Magazine, Laura B. Whitmore

In addition to playing guitar, Diego is a producer, arranger, orchestrator, and multi-instrumentalist.

Featured guest vocalist CHIARA IZZI

Sister, you are very, very talented!”

— Quincy Jones

Award winning Italian singer, songwriter Chiara Izzi has been described by Jazz Times as “a talent to be heard, admired and anticipated” after the release of her debut album “Motifs”. She embarked on her musical path in Italy, learning to play the piano and performing very early. She developed a great versatility through many, many performances in Italy and abroad (Belgium, Switzerland, France, United States, Finland, Germany), that led to hervocal mastery of traditional jazz  alongside contemporary styles. Chiara’s sound is based on her own unique interpretation of a fusion of different genres, including jazz, pop and Mediterranean sounds.

Born in Franca, Brazil, in 1980, Diego at the age of 4, used to strike poses carrying his small guitar. At six, he got a mandolin. Diego played many instruments before choosing the electric guitar when he was twelve, playing in theaters and local pubs where he began improvising and harmonizing. By 15, he had performed at theaters and nightclubs in many different Brazilian states, playing solo and with renowned musicians.

Like many rising stars with exceptional technique coming out of Brazil, Diego Figueiredo makes new fans every time he steps on the stage, though very few others play the guitar as expressively as he does.

Having received awards twice at the Montreux Jazz Festival as one of the greatest guitarists in the world, as well as the VISA prize and many others, Diego Figueiredo performs an amazing concert uniting technique and emotion in a fusion of Brazilian music and jazz. With a variety of work already released, Diego is performing on the most important stages around the world, charming the public wherever he plays.

Diego has recorded and performed with big names like Gilberto Gil, João Bosco, Roberto Menescal, Toquinho, Belchior, Fafá de Belém, Angela Maria, Toninho Horta, Larry Coryell, Ken Peplowski, Lewis Nash, John Clayton, Cyrille Aimée and many others. Only 35, he has released 23 CDS, 3 DVDs and a book.

He has performed in great places like Montreux Jazz Festival, Hong Kong Jazz Festival, Rio das Ostras Jazz Festival ( Brazil) , Oakville Jazz Festival, La Paz  Festijazz, Jarasum Jazz Festival (Korea), Copenhagen Jazz Festival, Douro Jazz (Portugal), Vail Jazz Party, Syracuse Jazz Festival,  Aspen Jazz Series, Dizzy´s Club NY, Birdland NY, Joe´s Pub NY, Jazz Alley, Guanabara ( London),  Harlem Jazz Festival ( Netherlands), Jazz Port Townsend,  Django Fest, Zoellner Arts Center, Centre Stage Reston,  Bourbon Street, Onda Jazz, Jazzhus Montmartre, Quasimodo (Berlim),  Zhuhai Jazz Festival (China), Vitello´s Jazz, Miami Festival, Jazz on the Platz, Jazz Bali, Guitar Masters ( German) and hundreds more.

Acclaimed by the critics as the newest sensation in the guitar world!

“Diego Figueiredo is the new Baden Powell” (Jazzlive - Denmark)

“Dear Diego: I listened to your CD “Segundas Intenções” and it was a magical moment. When I go to Brazil I would like to play together with you” (Pat Metheny)

"I have seen and played with many wonderful guitar players like Joe Pass or Baden Powell, but no one is like Diego. His ability and swing are unique".  (Flora Purim)
